[Happy Birthday] Turning 2!

BIRTHDAY!!!

Another year on and The Satchel is now 2! 

Looking back on the posts from the past year, The Satchel has covered more fashion events and exhibitions (photographed and edited by me), it has a new regular post called [7 Little Wonders] and continues to connect with people from all over the world from it's new home town of Sydney.

Over the next week there will be more posts celebrating The Satchel turning 2, so stay tuned!

7 Little Wonders

{Well it's been a big couple of months! (sorry for the lack of posts) I moved to Sydney! I'm really excited how this move will further my own career and enrich The Satchel too.}

{I hadn't even been in Sydney for a week and I was already backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia for Flannel. Here is a sneak peak of a massive post to come.}

{A little luck from a scarab beetle has certainly been needed in the last few weeks. This is my new beautiful gold plated with rose quartz necklace by Gabbi Kelly from Flannel.}

{Sculptures by The Sea at Cottesloe Beach- Sydney beaches will never compare!}

{My new favourite treat, ice-cream centred macaroons! OMG!}

[DIY] Glitter Gift Wrap

Equipment & Materials you will need:

1. A roll of paper

2. Glitter 

3. Ribbon

4. Sticky Tape

5. Glue

STEP BY STEP

1. Make a circle with the glue on the paper.

2. Sprinkle the glitter over the circle of glue.

3. Shake off the excess of glitter (keep aside to reuse).

4. Repeat randomly all over the roll of paper.

 Wrap your gifts using the sticky tape and pretty ribbon!

For gift tags I bought silver glitter swing tags to match the glitter spots.

However you could easily make these with some card and the same glitter you used for the paper.

Simply attach them to your gifts with some metallic thread.

I loved making this paper, there was glitter everywhere for a while (no one seemed to mind- it was Christmas!) Even though this was my Christmas paper this year, it's not a traditional colour scheme or pattern so you can use it for presents all year round! It doesn't have to just be gift wrap either- you could use it for anything, from a simple table runner to covering your books, journals and diaries.

[Smokin' Hot Babes] by Shama Heylen-Silvia

Sharma Heylen-Silvia opened her 'Smokin Hot Babes' exhibition at Hatch in Carillon City last month and if you haven't checked it out yet there is still time- but only a couple of weeks to go!

Sharma presented a series of rainbow water-colour 'babes' who each have their own personalities and specialise in a sport which are comically described in the captions below each piece. 

The colours of Sharma's work complimented the new bright summer colours of the clothing stocked in Hatch which served as the perfect backdrop for the Exhibition. On the opening night guests were treated to pink lemonade, fruit sticks and home-made fruity icy poles.

On the lead up to the 'Smokin Hot Babes' exhibition I was asked by Perth Fashion Festival to collaborate on an interview with Sharma at her beach side apartment in Cottesloe. Sharma welcomed us into her super-cool-surf-chic-arty-boho-skater-girl-gypsy home where she gave us a sneak peak of some of the works for her upcoming exhibition and a few other things she has in the works.
