[Sometimes Images] Inspire

I am a visual person. I am constantly surrounding myself with imagery.

Sometimes its an image that inspires me creatively- the colour of feather, the textures in a room, a beautiful portrait or an intriguing fashion shoot. Sometimes I'm drawn to an image just from the feeling it gives me, sometimes I just like to look at images for no other reason that they make me smile or day dream. Sometimes an image will be of something I'm coveting or a street-style-snap that reflects my sense of style or one that I wish I had!

And sometimes its just nice to see all those images that circulate around me in some kind of order. So I have collated just a couple of these images that are doing the rounds into six somewhat-organised collages.

[Street Style Trends] SS14 RTW

So as most of you know the Spring/Summer 2014 ready-to-wear collections have been hitting the catwalks of New York, Milan, London and Paris (which you can see in an upcoming post!). I'm just as excited and interested about what's happening on the streets before and after the shows as the shows themselves. It's when you get to see individuals creating their own runway in their own style. As usual there are a few trends that pop up on the streets, this post highlights 3 of them- "Plaid", "Overalls" and "Simplicity". Some are even nailing to two trends at once! I've also added a few extra unique looks that grabbed my attention.

[Dresses & Gowns] Polytechnic 2nd year Display

Hollie Gardner
I attended Polytechnic's 2nd year end of year garment display, where the students presented a dress each they had designed and produced. I was very impressed with the quality and technique shown in the garment construction, especially considering this was the work of 2nd year students. The garments varied from formal gowns to cocktail dresses and many of them had countless hours of hand crafted embellishment techniques.
I look forward to coming back next year to see what these students produce for their final 3rd year collections if this is what they are doing now!
