[Pippa McManus Illustration] With Flowers in Their Hair

Illustrator Pippa McManus unveiled her latest exhibition 'With Flowers in Their Hair' at One40william this week. Pippa showcased an absolutely amazing body of work to the guests who obviously coveted her masterpieces according to all the little red dots next to almost all of the pieces half way through the night! Using models as muses each one has their own personality, which is highlighted through the use of medium and application used by Pippa. Talking to some of the guests the common response was that they couldn't pick a favourite- they just LOVED THEM ALL! I agree!

Pippa also recently returned from London Fashion Week illustrating for Mary Katrantzou back stage and straight off the catwalk! Before she could get her feet back on the ground she was back in Perth as the official illustrator for Perth Fashion Festival 2012 and also exhibited her interpretation of PFF's campaign images in an exhibition called 'Best Western' in Hatch throughout the week.
A massive CONGRATULATIONS on all your success Pippa, it's awesome to see a very talented local Perth girl achieving great things!!

[The Longing/ An Aperture] exhibition

‘THE LONGING/ AN APERTURE’
AN EXHIBITION OF WORKS BY ANYA BROCK + SARA WINFIELD

A very very talented friend of mine, Anya Brock has been busy in her studio!
As a result she and fellow artist Sara Winfield are presenting the highly anticipated exhibition TheLonging/AnAperture’.

I first met Anya while studying at fashion and textiles at Central TAFE, she was lecturing there and took a couple of my classes. Anya is full of creativity which has extended through fashion and art over the years, inspiring and encouraging all around her including myself!! The influence of her fashion background can be easily identified in the sultry faced models and bright, complimentary colour palettes. Her paintings are very unique and distinctive and can be found in the coolest cafes and boutiques around Perth.

The exhibition encapsulates the two’s signature styles of complex line work and bright bold colours in a kaleidoscopic onslaught of detailed pattern work, sensual female forms and flora and fauna. Conceptually the work deals with notions of desire and yearning and attempts to expose the often hidden and surreal world beneath the façade.

Here is a little sneak peak of some of Anya and Sara's work....I can't wait to see more!!

‘The Longing/ An Aperture’ runs from 13th- 29th July at
The Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery. 46 Henry St, Fremantle.
Opening Night 13th July 6pm-8pm.
This event is sponsored by Little Creatures Brewery, Mosmans Restaurant, Fremantle Arts Centre.
