PART I: Perth Fashion Festival 2012 {Day 1-3}

What a week! Looking back now Perth Fashion Festival 2012 was a blur of colour (lack of sleep will do that), fortunately I managed to capture a few special moments throughout! (unfortunately I lost my iPhone pictures due to a certain ios6 update) My involvement with PFF this year wasn't just during the week of the festival, I was able to assist in the hectic weeks leading up to it too. Due to this position I am able to give you varying perspectives of the week across almost all of the shows - from front row, backstage, rehearsals, hair & make-up, venue set up, media zones and mingling with the guests to VIP after parties.

A huge THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to all of the dedicated PFF staff, you are all so amazing and have produced an incredibly high standard event and have raised the bar for Perth fashion events. A VERY SPECIAL thank you to Chelsey and Aleks too!

OFFICIAL PROGRAM LAUNCH
@ THE STATE THEATRE OF WA - 21ST AUGUST 2012
Backstage snaps between hair and make-up touch ups.
Styled by Teagan Sewell. Millinary by The Hatmaker and Reny Kestel. Hair by Brad Ngata. Make-Up by MAC.

VIP OPENING NIGHT: ONE FELL SWOOP
@ THE PERTH TOWN HALL - 19TH SEPTEMBER 2012
Models backstage with plaited beards.
All in line during choreography rehearsals.

One Fell Swoop's collection was made up of soft tailoring, layering and draping always sensitive to the body's shape. A film directed and produced by Amelia Phillips and Daniel Galligah set the scene for the show which played out to music from French composer Jean Michael Jarre.

See it move!

MYER FASHION LUNCHEON
@ FRASER'S RESTAURANT KINGS PARK - 21ST SEPTEMBER 2012
The day dubbed 'Freaky Friday' certainly lived up to it's name!
However gale force winds and horizontal rain didn't stop Spring & Summer on the Myer catwalk.
Model and Myer Ambassador Kris Smith, a Model backstage and Spice Girl and X-Factor judge Mel.B.
The Fashion Catalyst looking beautiful wearing Betty Tran.

GARTH COOK
@ FASHION PARAMOUNT, THE MUSEUM OF WA - 21ST SEPTEMBER 2012
On the runway - some of the looks from the 3 collections he presented.
Garth Cook's winter collection, Transformation included a collaboration with Dormani Yarns showcasing beautiful knitwear with a hint of sparkle. There was also a bit of bling on the head wear -  I need one of those sequinned baseball caps!!
Garth's winter collection was definitely a favourite of mine, I think it could easily sit along side international designers like Alexander Wang.

KIM BARTON
@ FASHION PARAMOUNT, THE MUSEUM OF WA - 21ST SEPTEMBER 2012
The models wore bright colours, retro sunnies and flowers in their hair!
There was definitely a 'vibe' in the air and the models played this up on the runway.

STEPH AUDINO
@ FASHION PARAMOUNT, THE MUSEUM OF WA - 21ST SEPTEMBER 2012

Steph Audino's collection was beautifully elegant and her finale look (above) was clever two piece gown- a body suit and silk skirt for maximum versatility.

So much more to come! Stay tuned for Part II, PART III & PART IIII.

[last days] colourful San Francisco

The last few days in San Francisco where beautiful! The sun was shining as we wondered Fisherman's Wharf and walked The Haight Ashbury. It continued to shine as we went back in time at Alcatraz and at a pub as we cheered on the 49er's football match on a big screen.
Some of The Stachel's Instagram snap shots above show what a colourful and creative city San Francisco is!

We had some of the best meals in the last few days- a scrumptious breakfast pizza at La Boulange bakery on Union Street, some amazing tortelloni pasta at The Stinking Rose and the best coffee and cake at Caffe Greco on Columbus Avenue! A visit to Ghirardelli Square involved a burger and shake at retro inspired Lori's Diner, a yummy lemon cupcake at Kara's Cupcakes and afternoon tea at the Crown and Crumpet tea salon. (not all in one day) Of course we had to pick up some famous chocolate at Ghirardelli Chocolate Company for the family.

Window shopping along The Haight Ashbury was very colourful! Lots of vintage clothing and music - the window display's were very imaginative!
